How do chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) affect the ozone layer?
CFCs are hydrocarbons in which some or all of the hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine atoms. They are often used as refrigerants, solvents and until recently as propellants in aerosol cans.
